Teng Yun II
ISR / Strike
Also known as: Teng Yun II / Soaring Cloud II / Armed MALE UAS

Teng Yun II overview
The Teng Yun II is an advanced evolution of Taiwan's indigenous Teng Yun MALE UAV platform, developed by NCSIST with enhanced performance characteristics and integrated weapons capability. Building on lessons learned from the original Teng Yun program, the Teng Yun II features a larger airframe with approximately 20-meter wingspan, more powerful engines, and hardpoints for carrying precision-guided munitions. This armed capability transforms the platform from a pure ISR asset into a multi-role combat UAV capable of conducting strike missions in addition to surveillance operations.
The Teng Yun II program reflects Taiwan's strategic imperative to develop credible asymmetric deterrence capabilities against potential cross-strait aggression. With an extended endurance of approximately 28 hours and improved sensor packages including synthetic aperture radar and electro-optical/infrared turrets, the platform can maintain persistent surveillance over vast maritime areas while retaining the ability to engage time-sensitive targets. As of 2025, the Teng Yun II is undergoing final development and integration testing, with initial operational capability expected in the near term. The program represents Taiwan's most ambitious indigenous drone effort and a key component of its Overall Defense Concept emphasizing survivable, distributed force capabilities.
