MRK Storm overview

The MRK Storm (MRK Shtorm) is a small unmanned ground combat vehicle developed in Russia for infantry support and force protection missions. The tracked platform weighs approximately 1,000 kg and can be equipped with various weapon systems including machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, and anti-tank guided missiles. The MRK Storm is designed to provide direct fire support to infantry units while keeping soldiers out of the line of fire.

The MRK Storm has been demonstrated at Russian military exhibitions and tested by Russian military forces. Like other Russian UGV programs, it has faced challenges with reliable communications, autonomous navigation, and integration into combined arms operations. As of 2025, the system has been offered in limited quantities to Russian military units, though mass production and widespread deployment remain uncertain due to the ongoing impacts of sanctions on Russian defense electronics supply chains. Its significance lies in Russia's ongoing efforts to develop ground combat robots despite considerable technical and industrial challenges.
