KALKAN overview

KALKAN DİHA is Baykar's hybrid VTOL fixed-wing tactical ISR aircraft, using lift motors and internal-combustion forward propulsion. It is advertised unarmed, with EO/IR, tracker, and laser-rangefinder payload options for surveillance and target acquisition.

Baykar claims the listed dimensions, 55-KIAS speed, six-hour endurance, 10,000-ft ceiling, 3-kg payload, and 78-kg MTOW. Its 70+ km figure is a communications range rather than a published mission range, which limits direct performance comparisons.

It was first announced in 2019, according to reporting. Baykar does not publicly identify a purchaser or operator, so operator countries and fielding status remain undisclosed. For comparison, publicly documented roles and procurement or testing evidence are more reliable than unsupported inference from incomplete specifications, and they should not be treated as confirmation of unreported characteristics.
