KUB-BLA overview

The KUB-BLA is a loitering munition developed by ZALA Aero Group, a subsidiary of the Kalashnikov Concern. The flying wing-shaped drone is designed for precision strikes against personnel, light vehicles, and other soft targets. With a wingspan of approximately 1.2 meters and a payload capacity of 3 kg, the KUB-BLA navigates autonomously to the target area using GPS/INS guidance and employs a terminal imaging seeker for precision impact.

The KUB-BLA has been deployed by Russian forces during the conflict in Ukraine alongside the larger Lancet loitering munition. While the Lancet has received more attention for its anti-vehicle strikes, the KUB-BLA serves as a complementary weapon for engaging softer targets. As of 2025, ZALA has continued to refine the system with improved guidance and AI-assisted target recognition. Its significance lies in its role as part of Russia's growing family of domestically produced loitering munitions, contributing to the broader trend of precision strike miniaturization where even squad-level units can deploy guided weapons against specific targets.
