IRIFI overview

IRIFI is an autonomous deep-strike unmanned system unveiled by French defense company Harmattan AI in October 2026. The company describes a one-way attack aircraft intended to reach targets up to 2,000 km away, putting it in a different mission category from short-range FPV drones. Its proposed role is to threaten military logistics and other designated targets deep behind the front line. The published range is a design claim, not an independently demonstrated operational radius.

Harmattan AI presents IRIFI as a canister-launched system deployable from a mobile launcher. The company says navigation does not depend on GNSS satellite signals and that optical terminal guidance supports the final approach. Human commanders authorize targets and mission boundaries before launch, after which the aircraft is intended to execute the mission autonomously. Claims about accuracy, low-altitude survivability, and performance under electronic interference remain manufacturer statements; the announcement does not provide a public flight-test record that independently validates them.

The program also has a Moroccan industrial dimension. An announcement reproduced by Defense Arabia describes an October 7, 2026 letter of intent between Harmattan AI and Morocco for a sovereign Moroccan IRIFI development program, building on a June 2026 partnership and a planned research center in Rabat. The stated objective includes developing and producing critical components in Morocco. A development agreement should not be confused with an operational deployment, completed production line, or delivery of a specified quantity of aircraft.

As of October 2026, IRIFI is best understood as a newly announced deep-strike program rather than a fully documented fielded weapon. Public disclosures do not establish its payload, speed, endurance, dimensions, unit price, or service-entry date. Its strategic appeal is the proposed combination of long reach, autonomous navigation, and scalable production, but meaningful assessment still depends on testing, manufacturing maturity, and the safeguards governing authorized missions.
