Hornet overview

The Hornet is a low-cost fixed-wing one-way attack drone associated with Perennial Technologies and Perennial Autonomy, with Swift Beat LLC also appearing in public reporting about the system's development. The aircraft is also known by the name Martian-2, a designation used in reporting about its appearance in the war in Ukraine. Unlike a conventional reusable reconnaissance UAV, the Hornet is designed as an expendable precision-strike platform for attacking vehicles, logistics sites and other targets behind the front line.

Publicly available reporting describes the Hornet as an AI-assisted system with optical navigation intended to remain useful when satellite navigation is disrupted or communications are contested by electronic warfare. Its fixed-wing airframe, low reported unit cost and use of commercially available components are intended to support production at scale. The system has been associated with Ukrainian operations against Russian logistics and with U.S. Army evaluation activity in Germany under the Hornet DE-2 designation.

Detailed manufacturer specifications have not been publicly released. Open-source estimates place the reported reach in the approximately 50–150 km range and the warhead at up to roughly 5 kg, while dimensions, speed, endurance and service ceiling remain undisclosed. These figures should be treated as reported estimates rather than confirmed technical specifications.
