SIRTAP overview

SIRTAP is Airbus Defence and Space's high-end tactical remotely piloted aircraft for persistent intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and target-acquisition missions. Airbus describes an aircraft able to carry two mission payloads at once, including an electro-optical turret and a multi-mission radar, so its intended niche sits between small short-range tactical aircraft and heavier MALE systems. The platform is designed for day-and-night work and for the institutional and governmental users that need a runway-independent tactical sensor rather than a one-way weapon.

Airbus claims more than 20 hours of endurance, an operating altitude above 21,000 feet, and more than 150 kg of payload, with up to 180 kg depending on configuration. It also describes more than 2,000 km of mission reach when beyond-line-of-sight satellite connectivity is used. These are manufacturer claims; maximum speed, dimensions, launch mass, and a verified operational weapon fit remain Not publicly disclosed. The planned Spanish airworthiness pathway and all-weather provisions are development features, not proof that every customer configuration has been certified.

Colombia and Spain signed a reported SIRTAP procurement agreement in 2023, while Airbus continued prototype and ground-test work through 2025 and 2026. That evidence supports a real joint program with ordered customers, but it does not establish broad service entry or a complete list of fielded aircraft. As of September 12, 2026, this profile treats SIRTAP as an ordered and developmental tactical UAS and keeps the catalog illustration separate from evidence about its sensors or possible armament.
